PLEASE HELP

this is a silver cup dated March 27,1891. It has the initials MSB or WSB in old English lettering. The bottom of the cup says Rockford with a scale emblem and the number 249. There is etching on the sides of flowers and leaves and you can feel where they are etched into the silver. The cup is 5 nches high and is heavy in weight. Will send picture of I fgure were to send them or you can contact me. Would love to know if it has any value it came from my 81 year old step mother on the passing of her death and she always wondered if it had value.

Hi Allison,

A little history about the Rockford Silver Co. It was originally called Racine Silver Co and was founded in 1873. When the original building burnt down in 1873 they moved the company to Rockford Illinois and assumed the name Rockford Silver Co. In 1925 a man of the name Raymond Sheets purchased Rockford Silver Co. and again changed the name, this time to Sheets-Rockford Silver Co.

Your step mother's silver cup definitely has value. I would place it's value in the $25-75 dollar range. Here's a link to a similar Rockford silver co. cup that sold for $45 dollars:
